What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was in my teens from my Dad.  After a minor automobile incident all he said was “there are no excuses”.  He was a military man and pointed out that if you are prepared, and try your hardest to do your best, and something goes wrong, there isn’t an excuse, just an opportunity not to make the same mistake again.

What’s your worst financial mistake?

Allowing myself to pick wants over needs and going into debt doing so without a plan to correct my mistake.  It was scary, and I was very disappointed in myself.  It took a lot of effort and planning to get back on track.  Employing the “no excuses” advice, it was an opportunity to make sure it never happened again.

Why do you do what you do?

Being a part of a team and helping with clients is a great way to make sure I am always involved with people.  I enjoy them and listening to what’s important to them!  It’s a special way to be a part of their lives and to try to make a difference on their behalf.
